Maki

Maki is known for her Sassoon-style precision cuts and classic barbering with scissors. She incorporates organic movement and balance into her work for each individual client.  She is skillful at natural, low-maintenance colouring as well as fun, vivid creations.  Maki also specializes in modern curly and wavy perms, and loves seeing the twinkle in her clients’ eyes when their hair is transformed from limp, straight hair into various volumized textures!

Well over a decade into her career now, Maki continues to sharpen her skills through numerous advanced education offered locally, internationally and virtually. While working abroad as a hairstylist in London UK, she has gained invaluable experience and her love of precision cutting was propelled to a whole new level.  

In addition to Maki’s passion for hairstyling, her excitement for fashion and art is also apparent as she revels in editorial photoshoots. During her 10 years at Vancouver hair salon Zinc Hair, she has competed in the national Contessa Canadian Hairstylist of the Year competition throughout multiple years and has been placed as a Top 5 Finalist in various categories, ranging from BC Hairstylist, Men’s Hairstylist, Canadian Colourist, and Salon Team. 

Apart from doing hair, you can find Maki dreaming up her next travel adventures, which will usually include some form of activity with wildlife encounters. If you have any interesting stories or recommendations on eco-traveling or eco-tours, she is all ears!  And last but not least, Maki adores being around animals and is a proud mama of two little parrotlets with big personalities – Skipper and JakJak.
