Ali was a stylist in Vancouver for ten years before taking a class in NYC, which prompted her to leave behind her beloved Canada, and chase the opportunity to expand her skills. She spent the last four years at Arrojo Studio in Manhattan, working her way up from the bottom to a Senior Colorist. Ali was involved in teaching classes both in-salon and around the US, in addition to working on many shows and photo shoots.
“It’s funny to me that I woke up one day and decided to go to hair school, and here I am, almost fifteen years later, with a career that is truly fulfilling, both professionally and personally. To get to spend all day around creative people, and getting to bond with my clients, is the best.”
Creative color is one of her favorite things to do, but she also loves all color. “Whenever someone asks me what my favorite thing to do is, I always say it’s about the client. I love creating more avant-garde looks, but I also love doing a classic foil highlight, it really comes down to who is in my chair. I really enjoy spending time with great people, even if it’s just a brunette root touch up”.
When she’s not coloring hair, she can usually be found petting dogs, drinking bourbon, or on vacation eating all the food.
